Company balance sheets: revenues are growing but costs are rising

The numbers taken from an analysis by InfoCamere on 716,776 industrial companies (excluding banks and insurance companies), which presented their financial statements in the years 2020-22, reveal how the value of production of Italian companies has grown by 50.7% in the last three years. At the same time, costs have kept pace; indeed, spending on raw materials increased by 66% and interest and other financial charges increased by 37.2%. The three-year period examined starts from 2020 (characterised by Covid) and photographs the rebound of the following two years, in which the GDP measured by Istat recorded +8.3% and +3.7%
